Students entering Years 9 & 10
In years 9 and 10 students are required to be enrolled in five subjects - Maths, Science, English, HaSS and Health and Physical Education. Students are then able to enrol in an elective subject which aligns with their interests or future intentions. Students may continue in their Approved Specilaist Program, or apply if there are spaces available, or there are a variety of courses to choose in The Arts, Languages, and Technologies.

Making the transition to Senior School is an exciting opportunity for Year 10 students at Kent Street Senior High School as they begin to take more active steps in shaping their own future. There are many factors to be considered when choosing pathways and courses. Even if you haven’t yet decided on a career, it is important to look at several possibilities and ensure that you don’t restrict future options. This booklet lists our offering for Senior School students and information on making the right choice for you.

This booklet is designed to help families and students better understand their future pathways in senior school and beyond. This includes clarifying Western Australian Certificate of Secondary Education (WACE) requirements, who is the School Curriculum and Standards Authority(SCSA) and their role, what is “TISC” and how to make the best choices for your senior studies in order to prepare yourself for life beyond Kent Street Senior High School.
